Jim Johnston holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Tulsa. He is the Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at McElroy Manufacturing in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has been with McElroy for 28 years. In his current role he is responsible for: Standards, Industry Relations, Business Intelligence, and Information Technology.

His career has included all facets of the thermoplastic piping industry from supply chain, manufacturing, engineering, and leadership to consultation on design and installation of thermoplastic piping systems. He is a regular presenter both domestically and internationally on the importance of plastic piping systems for industries including, natural gas distribution, oil and gas gathering, mining, water usage and conservation, agriculture, and many others.

Jim is very active in the standards community including: ISO, Alliance, ASTM, ASME, AWWA, AGA, AWS, ASCE, IGSHPA, PPI and many others.
