PIPES XIII TO CREATE BUZZ SAY ORGANIZERS

Organizers of PIPES XIII have issued a last registration call for their Conference and Exhibition on 6/7 September 2022 at Emperors Palace in Gauteng. Their hybrid event promises to create quite a buzz given an impressive line-up of local and international speakers and that it takes place after a two-year absence owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Jan Venter, Chief Executive Officer of SAPPMA (the South African Plastic Pipe Manufacturers Association): “PIPES XIII will be an exciting conference that will communicate the latest technical advances in the innovative world of plastic pipes. The theme of PIPES XIII is ‘The Versatility of Plastic Pipe’ and the conference stage will also be shared by some of the best international papers that were presented at the PPCA’s Conference in Amsterdam last year. And this year it is most definitely about the what and the who.”

“Our international speakers have a lot of vital information to share. For example, Dominique Gueugnaut (GRTgaz) from France, will announce a rapid and innovative in-factory procedure for testing the performance of PE pipes containing various proportions of recycled polymer material.”

“Lennert Bakker (Soluforce) from The Netherlands will evidence important benefits from RTP pipe systems in challenging mining applications. Also of immediate interest to the South African market, Prashant Nikhade (Borouge) will share the literal ins and outs of extra large diameter pipes made with a low sag PE material used in India.”

Local speakers have equally important messages to deliver. Led by economist Roelof Botha as guest speaker, the list of presenters includes Beverley Manikum from Sasol who will share a cutting-edge review and outlook on global markets and pricing that have direct consequences for the domestic market.

Alaster Goyns (Pipes cc) will provide essential information about flexible pipes for new buried pipelines and rehabilitation of existing installations. Preventing weld failures and costly repairs is a total quality concern and Jacques van Eck (Avesco) will reveal his HDPE weld protocol that will achieve just that.

Venter is convinced that Pipes XIII will provide the right networking opportunities for South Africa’s entire plastic pipe value supply chain. “The event is a must for engineers, industry representatives, local government, pipe fittings and extrusion equipment manufacturers, raw material suppliers, consultants, students and academics. All those who need to remain at the top of their game. The conference is not to be missed!” says Venter.

In addition to conference, delegates will visit an exhibition comprising leading plastic pipe manufacturers, suppliers and industry partners such as Aenor, Alprene, BSI Group, MacNeil, Molecor, Pipeflo, Plastiweld, Pipestar Africa and Zerma etc.

Sponsorship of conference events is often a measure of their appeal of association. Venter is keen to highlight Molecor, now onboard as a Gold Sponsor and Plastic & Chemical Trading, as Silver Sponsor.

It is also important to note that the Pipes XIII conference will provide delegates the opportunity to log-in virtually to the conference deliberations. Further information is available through admin@sappma.co.za
